In the Graduate Study Program # 894, ”Self-organization by Coordinative and Non-covalent Interactions”, sponsored by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and Land Sachsen-Anhalt, a Post-Doctoral position is available from 01.01.06 - 31.09.06. The graduate college is centered on supramolecular chemistry. The students in this graduate study program will synthesize, investigate and model different types of self-organizing systems. They will be guided towards a fundamental understanding of the forces governing the self organization in solution (dye aggregates, guest-host systems), in ordered fluids (thermotropic and lyotropic liquid crystals) in the crystalline state (e.g. in superstructures caused by closed-shell interactions) and at interfaces. The research is conducted in close collaboration between organic, inorganic and physical chemistry groups, computer modeling groups, spectroscopic groups and physics. The Post-Doc preferably should have experience in the field of supramolecular chemistry and/or characterization and investigation of liquid crystalline systems.
