Professorship for Micro- and Nanostructure based Polymer Composites

Generell Information

Prof. Dr. Roland Weidisch was appointed from the university of Halle (Saale) (MLU) together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials IWMH in august 2009. The research working group develops new material concepts on the basis of block copolymers and nanocomposites (carbon-nanotubes, clay, silica). Thereby, the focus lies in the investigation of the stucture-property-relationship between the molecular architecture, the morphology and the mechanical behaviour, i.e. crack kinetics, fracture mechanics and deformation studies.

Because of the close collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials IWMH    and the Fraunhofer pilot plant center for polymer synthesis and polymer processing    (PAZ), there are excellent chances to connect academic and applicational research with each other.
